Community Plot

This satiric comedy takes place in a building on New York's multi-ethnic Lower East Side. Four neighbors form an uneasy alliance after a case worker from family court is accidentally killed in their building. The film captures the noisy chaos and cultural diversity of this poor community with a gutsy sense of humor. On note, it presents the hardships faced by battered women when they attempt to get help from the law enforcement bureaucracy.

TWN acknowledges that in New York we are on the unceded territory of the Lenni Lenape, Canarsie, Shinecock, and Munsee peoples and challenges the harm that continues to be inflicted upon Indigenous and People of Color communities here and abroad, which is why we all need to be part of the struggle for rights, equality and justice.
